For the third year running, the EWG has released their Dirty Dozen report with a Plus category, informing the public of two more foods that contain trace levels of hazardous pesticides, yet, do not meet “traditional Dirty Dozen ranking criteria.”
“Kale and collard greens were frequently contaminated with insecticides that are toxic to the human nervous system. EWG recommends that people who eat these foods buy organic instead.”
Dirty Dozen:
1. Apples
2. Strawberries
3. Grapes: A single grape sample contained 15 pesticides.
4. Celery
5. Peaches
6. Spinach
7. Sweet Bell Peppers
8. Imported Nectarines
9. Cucumbers
10. Cherry Tomatoes
11. Imported Snap Peas
12. Potatoes: The average potato had more pesticides by weight than any other food.

3. Pineapples: Nearly 90 percent of samples were free of pesticide residue.
