Continued from our Retreat & Renew Daily Tip.

Jolene Hart, Beauty Editor

The pleasure of smooth, hair-free skin is quickly lessened by irritation and painful ingrown hair. Here’s what to do to make sure your skin looks great after your hair removal session:

To soothe red, irritated skin following hair removal, apply a lightweight moisturizing product with calming, natural ingredients. Try an aloe-based gel, a calendula salve or chamomile oil blend. I personally love witch hazel pads, they help with post waxing break outs! Don’t take a hot shower or bath for several hours after the hair removal process.

To prevent ingrown hair, wait until your hair is at least ¼ inch long before you wax or sugar. In the weeks after your treatment, gently exfoliate the area with a scrub or washcloth when you bathe. If you do see an ingrown hair, gently lift out the tip with tweezers, but do not pluck the hair, or you may cause another ingrown in the same spot.
