Yoga for Pregnancy
For both experienced and beginning yoga practitioners who find themselves expecting, the Movement Center in Portland, Oregon, has released two new prenatal yoga DVDs suitable for the many stages of pregnancy. Produced and instructed by Patty Slote, these beautifully filmed DVDs feature careful instruction and thoughtful modifications.
Prenatal Sun Salute: An Energizing Yoga Practice, is a modified version of this well-known sequence in three versions: basic instruction, which provides detailed instructions; flowing, which moves through the series with one breath per pose; and holding, which maintains each pose for deeper stretching - great for beginners and last trimester practitioners.
Prenatal Yoga: A Complete Home Practice, offers three sequences ranging from a mostly side-lying practice to a more vigorous standing series, and three closing relaxations to encourage stillness. Pregnancy-specific modifications for ailments like leg cramps and swelling are provided, and thoughtful additions such as Kegel exercises and labor-prepping squats are also included. Recommended for all stages of pregnancy and levels of experience. For more information call (800) 876-7798 or visit prenatalyogadvd.com
