Aesthetician JoElle Lyons, founder of JoElle SkinCare, treats famous faces like that of the First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama and our very own Publisher here at HL&S. We asked Lyons for her professional skin care secrets, plus tips on how we, too, can get a gorgeous natural glow.
Q: What's your best tip for maintaining youthful skin?
A: Water! Water! Water! Drink lots of it! Also, keep your stress level low, incorporate Superfoods and limt sun exposure.
Q: Tell us about your favorite natural anti-aging ingredient to use in skin care.
A: Vitamin C, because it has so many benefits. Its an antioxidant that reduces fine lines and wrinkles while improving collagen production. It's also great for reducing sun spots as well as preventing sun damage.
Q: What's one thing you do daily for great skin?
A: I am consistent with my daily skin care regimen. One doesn't have to spend a fortune on products or spend hours caring for their skin daily, just a few simple steps a day will keep those signs of again at bay.
Q: What's the best trick you've learned in your years as an esthetician?
A: The Magnificent Masque! When you haven't been true to your skincare regimen or haven't made it to the spa for your regular facials and you still want that glow, nothing does the trick like a 15 minute masque. Use a hydrating masque for a radiant glow and a clay masque to combat oil and blemishes and provide a refreshing and uplifting effect.
Q: What's your recipe for reducing sun damage and hyperpigmentation?
A: Limit your sun exposure of course! There are many natural lightening agents on the market but be sure to use one that incorporates an exfoliant and suncreen as well. Using these types of products at least 2 times per day will produce faster results.
