Whipped Shea Butter Lotion

Courtesy Kayleigh Kulp

Ingredients:
• raw organic shea butter
• peppermint oil
• almond oil
• rosehip seed oil
• grapeseed oil

Melt a heaping tablespoon of shea butter in the microwave. Then add about a tablespoon each of grapeseed and almond oils. Add a few dashes of rosehip seed oil (this is my favorite ingredient for moisturizers – really helps with scars and is very mild), and a half teaspoon of peppermint oil. Not only does the peppermint oil give the plain-smelling shea butter a nice fragrance, it also gives a little tingle to the lotion for an energizing boost to your body or for apres-sun moisturizing. Place the bowl in a bigger bowl of ice water and as the mixture cools, stir until it starts to become creamy.

Now bring out the mixer and whip until there are stiff peaks in the lotion. It should look like meringue or whipped cream. Experiment with adding more oils if it’s too stiff. If you are an everyday body lotion lather-er, this should last you two weeks. Keep it in the refrigerator until you get in the shower to let it soften and warm up a bit.

There you go, your all-natural wintertime dryness solution!
