Your Food Decoded
Continued from our Retreat & Renew Daily Tip.
Not sure what you’re eating? Kashi has done the decoding for you. (Looking for the answers to the quiz? See below.)
We already love Kashi at HL&S, but their new secret ingredient decoder helps you uncover the real food in your packaged foods vs. the fake stuff. Their list is of course partial, but it does include a few key ones to avoid and also helps you decipher ones you see frequently (acacia gum?) that you’re not sure of. Visit kashi.com for the full list.
Quiz answers to today's quiz questions:
- You should avoid partially hydrogenated oils — they contribute to trans fats found in foods. Fractionated oils, on the other hand, are plant-based oils that are still healthy to consume.
- BHA is Butylated Hydroxyanisole — a chemical that is added to foods to preserve fats, but is not a healthy choice.
- Avoid Sodium Benzoate — a chemical preservative frequently used in acidic foods, including carbonated drinks, juices and condiments.
