Often times when a sickness or an accident occurs, it happens as fast as the snap of your fingers.
Your child seems fine all day but when it comes to bedtime, develops a cough. Or you spend the day gardening and then find yourself, as you put on lotion for bed, with a nasty rash that you hadn’t noticed before.
While over-the-counter options can certainly help ease these ailments, you are just as likely to have what you need in your kitchen cupboards or fridge.
While some remedies are old wives’ tales and nothing more, others have significant research behind them.
Take our favored WHOLESOME HONEY for instance, research has shown that honey soothes a scratchy throat, sometimes better than the “leading cough syrup”. In addition, reports show that honey is helpful in healing minor burns, providing antibacterial properties, and as a natural and safe daily mask for your skin.
Burned your finger reaching into the toaster oven? Apply a small amount of warm honey to the burn and then cover with gauze. Change daily. Remember if a burn is accompanied by swelling, fever, or any oozing you’ll want to get to the doctor.
Read all our tips for kitchen cures for such ailments as allergies, sore throat, bee stings, sun burn, stomach ache, profuse sweating and more!
