Mucho Moisturize Away Winter Blahhhs
Melissa Williams, RYT, Co-Owner Yoga Junction
Flyaway hair, cracked lips. Blah! Winter can take its toll on our otherwise most lustrous body parts.
But don’t let the cold weather deflate you. With some simple changes you can bring back the glow from summer while you patiently await the sun’s rays.
Lip Smack- Dehydration is the most common culprit for dried and cracked lips. Start by amping up your water intake by adding a slice of lemon to your water, encouraging you to drink more.
If you know you’ll be talking a lot (a big meeting, or teaching a class for instance), apply a non-petroleum based lip balm beforehand to discourage you from licking your lips. Petroleum may feel like it moisturizes but it actually sits on the surface of your skin, never helping alleviate dryness.
Instead look for products that contain natural oils and waxes, including beeswax, coconut oil and for a more scientific choice, hyaluronic acid.
Now your lips are smoochable. But what about taming your hair? Try these tricks to bring some moisture back to your locks.
While we are talking about dryness brought on by Winter, let's talk epidermis. Try the below DIY whipped shea butter lotions, it's easy and so so so calming to the skin. You'll be amazed by the results!
