The Paleo Diet, or the diet based on our ancient ancestors, is seeing a resurgence as people turn to more natural foods, grown closer to home. But is eating in such a restricted way really beneficial?

According to Dr. Andrew Weil, the Paleo Diet has benefits as it eschews sugar and salt, in favor of more natural foods. However, Weil cautions that the diet is too strict for most people to follow, decreasing the likelihood of success. Instead, he regards the diet as a healthy direction, but suggests adding low-glycemic grains and dairy products, giving people a wider variety of nutrients and foods to choose from.
