Depending on wear you live, the summer time is usually hot and sticky, and putting on makeup can sometimes feel pointless. With the humid weather, and dry heat it could be easy to get cracked skin, sweaty pores and runny eyes and foundation. But you can avoid make up meltdowns with these expert tips.

Drink Up

Sure pool side margaritas may be on the happy hour menu, but skip them and opt for more refreshing beverages that won’t dehydrate you like a prune.

Reach for a cold glass of ice water and watch your skin get an instant glow. People who are healthy and well hydrated often glow from the inside out.

There’s nothing quit as frustrating as putting on new make up, and stepping outside for it to all wash off. Drinking water can improve your skins elasticity, which will prevent makeup blunders.

Bright Eyes

Whether you use creams, gels, or powder, eye shadow is a must. This summer the brighter the better. Happy colors are in and people are opting for bright. Choose jewel tones like bright teal or fuchsia.

Less is More

This summer you don’t want to look gooey eyed. The eyeliner you wear should be subtle but pop. You can create a fun accent in the corner of your eyes with an intense turquoise liner; this adds a striking beautiful glow that can be pulled off at any age.

Change it up

Summer is a great time to change up your foundation. Instead of a heavy cream based foundation, opt for a powder. Pick one that is humidity resistant, to help with the heat. There are many companies that make warm weather foundations, when you buy it talk to the consultant and make sure that you look at the labels.  Get a shade or two darker than what you normally are. This is because the summer sun will naturally change your skin to a couple shades darker, just from being outside.

A powder is going to be your best bet for light feeling foundation. Test out many powders, the right one will add a subtle texture to your face which is elegant and soft.

Pucker up

Your lips will be the first thing to get dry or chapped in the summer heat, so find a lipstick with extra protein in it. Look for Vitamin E or D. Lipgloss can be a great way to keep a natural summer glow. When you smile your teeth will look more white. When you have a a healthy smile you will make a great first impression says Doctor Lori Lemire, a Coos Bay dentist.
