How’s your attitude? If you’re more of a glass half empty person, now is the time to start practicing that glass half full approach to life. Optimistic, grateful, positive people tend to age better than those who don’t appreciate what they’ve already got.
Change your mind, your diet and your exercise routines for a better you as you age.
1. Mind-
Practice cultivating gratitude and resilience to build strong “mind muscles” to approach the aging process with grace and optimism. Meditation can go a long way towards getting your mind in shape to weather the challenges that aging can bring. Releasing the past and accepting the choices you have made will also allow you to approach your future with a clean slate – Scientific American – How to Age Well
2. Exercise-
Low impact exercise like yoga, swimming, hiking and pilates can strengthen not just your muscles but also help you develop flexibility and willpower. Higher impact workouts like running or spinning can create too much strain and stress on your body, draining your adrenals and leading to joint and muscle problems.
3. Diet-
Michael Pollen said it best, “eat food, not too much, mostly plants”. Of course pesticide free organic plants would probably be the ideal, but just by incorporating more fruits and veggies into your diet you can enhance your health over the long term.
