When most people think about the word fat, they often think it is bad for them. Most people will think about fattening foods like doughnuts, cookies and cake and then they think about how “bad” these types of food can be for the body. Fat can often leading to obesity and other health issues, but not all fat is created equal. In fact some foods are better for you over others.

There are actually many healthy benefits to eating foods that have natural fat in them. Some dieters will eat only fat free and sugar free foods but these can actually be worse for the body. Most of the foods that claim to be healthy and low fat are highly processed and loaded with chemicals. This can put a strain on the body when it tries to digest the food.

It is important to realize that dietary fat is not necessarily a bad type of fat, and there are good ways to find the right balance of fats which will help your body strive.

1. Eat more “healthy” fat

There are many studies that show a calorie intake of 40% dietary fat will not affect the body. Most people actually don’t get enough of the healthy fats in their body. Good fat includes olive oil, coconut and fat from nuts like peanuts.

2. Understand the difference between good fat and bad fat

Many people will put fat into one category, but good fat is necessary for your body to run in its optimal state. However, bad fat can add weight and health issues to your life. Eating to many fats from processed foods and carbohydrates will lead to a big gut and poor digestion. Instead reach for healthy fats like avocados, nuts and extra virgin olive oil. You will feel better when you eat fat from natural sources.

3. Stop eating processed carbs

Bad fat is in processed foods like cereals, pastries and desserts. The carbohydrate can not burn off so it will often turn to fat in the body. The high amounts of sugar build up in the body. Instead reach for natural fats.

4. Exercise

It is important to move your body and exercise daily. When you seat your body can remove toxins and food waste. Give yourself permission to play and do an activity that you love. You don’t have to stress out about the exercise routine. Many people don’t like to work out, but picking an activity you enjoy will help that worry disappear.
