Holidays are a time of laughter fun and family but it’s also a time of anxiety stress and weight gain. You don’t have to fall victim to the holiday craziness. By following these steps you can maintain a peaceful and stress-free season.
Ask for help
Reaching out to your friends is one of the easiest and fastest ways to get out of the funk or stressful situation. Often we don’t think about asking people because we want to maintain a sense of control. Sometimes this adds to anxiety and the overwhelming sensations that accompany the holidays.
You can team up with your significant other to help get gifts you can ask for help with cooking and cleaning the holiday meals or simply ask for help in making an invitation for your holiday entertaining there’s lots of people and support around you, you just need to ask for help.
Put yourself first
During the holidays it can be a time of overwhelming emotions as we put everyone else first. Sometimes our health can suffer.
To avoid feeling the sensation simply takes care of yourself by putting yourself first. You put yourself in the driver seat of your life and everything else will fall into place. Dr. Robert Thompson, a dentist in Portland says that people forget to take care of themselves when they are stressed out.
Move
If you’re feeling stressed out you can take a mini break and go for a walk with the dog or do some yoga. Doing any type of movement will actually help you feel better about your health and destress as well.
Clean
Cleaning is one of the easiest things that you can do to help you feel less stressed when your environment is messy you sometimes feel more overwhelmed as well. An easy fix is to start cleaning asap. Clean all areas of your house and your home including your body. Make sure you are brushing your teeth often. You could even pause for a hot bath. Taking care of yourself will ultimately result in a better quality of life. You can stay in one piece for the holidays by putting your health first.
