If you can’t get to a spa to try out the latest trends, try replicating them at home with these Trendy Tips:

1. Bring nature into your at-home spa treatments with an indoor herb shower – Just hang some fresh eucalyptus from your shower head and run a hot shower. Let the natural aromatherapy soothe your inhalations and tantalize your olfactory system. Always burn an herbal soy candle and melt away some of those layers of stress.

2. Make a mud mask with a healing clay. While you relax, pay attention to your breathing, slowing and regulating your in and out breaths. Pop in a guided meditation CD to help you with your practice.

3. Throw a spa party with creative cocktails, a special spa music mix and plenty of fun spa products. You can even hire a masseuse to come in and give 15-minute mini massages. It’s fun to make natural goodie bags as well!

4. Explore Ayurvedic treatments with specially blended oils that incorporate healing herbs and extracts. You can do a mini-do it yourself Shirodhara treatment by gently pouring warm sesame oil on your scalp and forehead and massaging in. Leave on overnight before shampooing for maximum effects.

5. Color Self-Expression: In 2013 “self-expression” will be most intensely played out around COLOR. Because color is easily applied and relatively inexpensive, self-transformation can be painted on. Play around with in-your-face shades on hair and face from reverse ombre to neon lashes. Also try nail art with more nuanced textures and designs from 3D art to freehand mini-paintings.
