Water & Clay
When the Avanyu Spa at New Mexico’s La Posada de Santa Fe remodeled last summer, the spa redefined their spa menu – creating a unique selection of treatments inspired by the beauty of the Santa Fe region. New therapies and signature treatments were added, many inspired by the Tewa Native American belief that water is the lifeblood of nature. Inside the Avanyu Spa, the adobe décor is accented by original works from the Turner Carroll Gallery, extensive stone tile, and local pottery. Upon arrival, you’ll instantly feel soothed by the gurgling sounds from the stone and copper water sculpture and the soft colors of the relaxation area. One of their new treatments, the Avanyu Legend, was designed to be a personalized healing journey. After a scrub using the base of your choice (salt, sugar, bamboo, or crushed flowers), you’re wrapped in a soothing seaweed mask, a detoxifying mud mask, or a relaxing oil wrap; your treatment concludes with a light application of moisture-rich lotion (or if you book it in advance, a short massage). If you’re able to get off the table, be sure to wander the grounds surrounding the spa on your way back to your suite; La Posada is recognized for its extensive outdoor sculpture collection.
