q. I’m looking for an affordable spa getaway. Any tips on spa visits that won’t break the bank
a. There are quite a few options for those looking to save money on their spa vacations. And, really who isn’t? For starters, check out your local day spa to find out if they offer a frequent-visitor card or package. For instance, at Essentiels day spa in Boulder, Colorado, members of their Platinum Passport Program receive 20 percent off treatments. There are a few spa-fanatic type programs available, too. Spa-Addicts.com offers hundreds of great discounts to day and destination spas nationwide. Arizona Spa Girls (www.arizonaspagirls.com) also offers Red Hot Specials, sometimes giving their members nearly 50 percent off certain treatments! If you’re looking for a destination spa getaway, check out Destination Spa Groups’ specials (www.destinationspagroup.com); members include the renowned Canyon Ranch Resorts, Oaks at Ojai, Spa Eastman, Red Mountain, and more. If you’re willing to do your research, you’re certainly going to find numerous ways to save, allowing yourself more cash for those “necessary” add-ons like scalp and hand massages.
