Destination Nature

In Hope, British Columbia, Kw’o:kw’e:hala Eco Vacation Retreat (the name derives from the Halq’emeylem‚  language of the Sto:lo First Nations people) actively embodies the concept of a nature-based, wilderness spa experience. Accommodations include the Forest Cottage, a recycled building originally built as a small summer cottage at Cultas Lake. The resort allows guests to help harvest fruits, vegetables, and herbs from the organic gardens, and even assist in their preparation. Meals are served in an outdoor dining room, or belvedere, that was built from locally milled cedar. Among the many eco-retreat packages are The Beat Goes On, which includes creating a native drum and learning to play healing rhythms, and Eco Spa in the Raw, which features a wood-fired Finnish sauna, outdoor wood-fired cedar hot tub, and massage. Activities range from river rafting, golf, hiking, and fishing, to taking a refreshing dip in the swimming hole or simply relaxing in a riverside hammock.
