Finally, a Customizable Skincare Line! Subtle Green is a luxury organic skincare line, designed to suit your unique and specific needs.

We’re super stoked over her at HL&S. We secretly have always wanted to create our own skincare line, but simply don’t have the time. Then, Subtle Green came along!!! This new luxury organic skincare line is made with fresh food-grade ingredients and void of harmful preservatives and chemical ingredients.

The difference between Subtle Green and other brands labeled “all-natural” is something called “greenwashing”– a false-labeling tactic used try and trick consumers to think their product is truly natural and organic, when in fact, they are not. All of Subtle Green’s ingredients are “food-grade” (meaning you could technically eat them, but please don’t!) They also make their products in small-batches for quality control and to keep everything fresh.

Customization rocks because one size doesn’t fit all with skincare. This is how Chitra Desikan, founder and creator of Subtle Green, came up with the idea of customization. She wanted her clients to be able to choose exactly what they needed for their skin, plus it’s fun to create your own concoction!

Here’s how it works:

1. You identify your skin type and choose a base cream
2. Then you select a moisturizing enriching oil pack based on the skin concern you would like to address
3. Finally, you pick a skin booster packed with essential oils and booster botanicals.

And BAMM you’ve got your unique skin cream made to perfection for you and only you.

Subtle Green also has their own staple line of products that are awesome, but we’re obsessed with the customization option.

Also, this made-to-order stuff is really where it’s at. I mean, who wants to use something that’s been on a shelf for over a year (or more). Think about it as food, that would be gross! Products are definitely absorbed through your pores, so we are really ingesting these products! So that’s why it’s important to choose fresh. It also means the product works better and is more potent.

Subtle green uses the creme de la creme of the skincare packaging and bottle world – violet glass. It preserves a product’s freshness longer and may also enhance botanical potency. You can read more about this special glass here.

Exposure to light, heat and air can turn healing essential oils and botanicals to go bad and lose their medicinal properties.

Chitra, who previously worked as an aerospace engineer, took the stylish, luxurious lifestyles of living in Montreal with her time also spent in San Diego, CA where natural beauty is evident. She blended both of these elements and Subtle Green was born.

After falling in love with natural skincare products, Chitra decided to make her own (at first just for family and friends). But when the requests started rolling in for more of her one-of-a-kind products, a light went off.

“Making it for friends and family, then formally learning the process was much fun until people started asking me for specific ingredients in creams. I started customizing for them and then developed the process of customization!” says Chitra.
