A few statistics to get you in the mood for water
![]()
In the U.S., we use more than 400 billion gallons per day of water.
The total supply of water on the planet earth is estimated at 326 million cubic miles. One cubic mile of water equals more than one trillion gallons.
It’s estimated that 3,100 cubic miles of water (mostly vapor) is in the planet’s atmosphere at one time. If it all rained at once the Earth would be covered in only one inch of water.
If all of the planet’s water was poured in the U.S. it would cover all the land in an ocean with a depth of ninety miles.
Water can dissolve more substances than any other liquid.
The brain is composed of seventy percent water; blood is eighty-two percent; and the lungs are nearly ninety percent water!
