Want to do something (finally!) about your ‘hush hush’ ailments but are afraid to ask? Have no fear, we are going to map out 4 more common problems afflicting us women today and offer up some very helpful solutionsand of you have others, don’t hesitate to
ask our experts!
Problem #1: Foot Odor Ewww
Dr. Zong, a well-known NYC Podiatrist, says “The first step to take in preventing foot odor is to keep your feet dry and sweat free. This is especially difficult in the winter because most people wear extra clothing like heavy socks, panty hose and boots to provide extra warmth and heat, which promotes sweating and odor. It’s important to try to keep feet dry because aside from odor, sweaty feet can also cause athletes foot.” There are several steps one can take with simple at home remedies
to help relieve foot odor.
Problem #2: Leaking pee/Incontinence
If you’ve had children, this may be one of your most frustrating issues. Incontinence, or the inability to hold your bladder can have a lot of medical causes, so be sure to talk to your doctor. Schedule a visit with a pelvic health therapist who can determine what muscles are weak and how you can strengthen your pelvic floor to remedy the problem. Some doctors believe that magnesium can help alleviate the problem as it reduces muscle spasms in the bladder and allows the bladder to empty completely.
We tapped into the area of Holistic Gynecology which offers up a natural approach to common issues that women experience throughout their lives.
Problem 3: Pain During Sex
Pain during or after sex may be caused by inadequate lubrication. So start with a natural lubricant. If you’re still having pain, you should have your doctor check to be sure you don’t have a UTI, yeast infection, or a more chronic condition like endometriosis, fibroids, or cysts. Again, we encourage you to look into Holistic Gynecology to help you more naturally deal with these sensitive issues.
Problem #4: Chronic yeast and Bladder infections? Ick!
We all have vaginal yeast, its only when it multiples that we have a problem. The first thing to do is make sure your not sitting in wet or non-breathable garments. Spanx, thongs, yoga pants, etc (you get the drift) can all be culprits in creating a too-damp environment. Try to change out of these items quickly for starters. Some doctors also advise cutting down on sugar and dairy, which might have a link to an overabundance of yeast.
As for the bladder: Some women develop bladder infections after sexual intercourse, the so-called ‘honeymoon cystitis.’ There are some natural ways to reduce the chances of developing bladder infections after intercourse. Drinking 8 ounces of pure cranberry juice every day helps. Pure cranberry juice contains compounds that prevent the bacteria that cause bladder infections from attaching to the bladder. Choose pure juice, rather than sweetened versions. If you find the taste bitter, dilute the juice with water.
Here is more sage advice
from our experts on how to divert and battle the dreaded bladder infection. If you’ve never had a bladder infection, you will want to take this advice seriously because UTIs are definitely no laughing matter.
Problem #5 Bad Breath
We consulted with an Holistic Dentist, Nutritionist and Naturopath to get
their advice on how to treat chronic bad breath naturally and found one major commonality to the problem. Often, there is a connection between dental infections and overall health. For instance, research has shown that periodontal disease is linked to increased heart attacks, strokes, osteoporosis, diabetes, pre-term low birth weight babies, and pancreatic cancer in men.
Simple bad breath can be resolved with a few steps. For starters, try cinnamon instead of mint. Cinnamon actually helps reduce the amount of bacteria in your mouth. Omega-3 fish oils can also help reduce bad breath by reducing bacteria and inflammation in the mouth. Try snacking on celery, which can help wash away plaque, one of the leading causes of bad breath. And add parsley to your smoothies or nibble on it throughout the day as a natural breath freshener, parsley neutralizes bacteria in the mouth that cause mal-odor.
