Can’t make it to Maui this month?

Adapt the beauty luxuries of the Hawaiian isles to the beach, pool or your own backyard with a few creative ideas straight from the islands of aloha. You’ll be looking, feeling and even smelling so tropical that you may forget that you haven’t left home.

Get a collagen-boosting dose of vitamin C with chilled pineapple chunks, just like the Hawaiians do. I like to drop a few pieces in a glass of sparkling water for sweet, low-calorie hydration.

Massage your skin with kukui nut oil, treasured by Hawaiians for its naturally healing and deeply moisturizing properties. Find this essential fatty acid-rich oil in Alba Botanica’s Kukui Nut Organic Body Oil, which also contains tropical macadamia and coconut oils.

Tighten and rejuvenate your skin (and reduce water retention) with a sea salt bath rich in exotic essential oils like those in the Hydrotherapy Circuit at Grand Wailea’s indulgent Spa Grande in Maui. To create the experience in your own tub, mix Epsom salts with natural bath oil like Kerstin Florian’s Revitalizing Bath & Body Oil, with juniper, lavender, orange and cypress oils.

Skip the OJ and grab a jar of guava juice, packed with antioxidants (including the sought-after flavanoid quercetin) just like you’d sip at the oceanfront Fairmont Kea Lani hotel and other hotspots around the isles.

Get your hands and your senses on a natural cane sugar body scrub made from local Hawaiian ingredients by Ola Hawaii (a 2011 Earth Day Beauty Award winner). Gently exfoliate your skin with the scrub of your choice (in scents like Mango Grove, Paradise Plumeria and Island Tuberose), then get an island-inspired faux tan using our picks for natural self-tanning.
