Readymade Magazine is a great place to start if you’re not feeling like you want to really dive into an entirely new hobby.
But once you’ve got your feet wet, try moving onto bigger and even more rewarding aspects of your hobby.
Are you a foodie Foodie? This one is a no-brainer. If you like to know what you’re eating and how it was grown, gardening is definitely your top pick. Plus it offers a wonderful way to explore new flavors and tastes that you’re not likely to find at the grocery store. We like Gardener’s website as it helps you pick and design your garden. Easy DIY option? Join a CSA Community Supported Agriculture farm where you pick up a new bag of produce each week.
Fashionista on a budget? Try sewing. The investment is relatively small (you can buy a used machine for $50) and a class or two and you’re on your way. I’ve been able to deconstruct some of my daughter’s $50 dresses and remake them in a variety of fabrics.
Like chemistry? Like beer? Try home brewing. Home brewing is the next math club! Home brewing kits abound, as do local home brewing businesses. Plus, brewing it yourself lets you try interesting flavors, as well as meet new friends.
Urban living got you down? Try raising chickens. Chickens are relatively easy to maintain, and provide you with fresh eggs, chemical-free bug and weed control and are fun pets for your family. Make sure your area allows chickens and be sure to do some research before you get started.
Craftsy genes but not sure where to start? Head over to Etsy for some DIY inspiration. Etsy can easily eat up an entire day if you let it, so hone in your search with our favorite, Heartsy, featuring the best of the Etsy crew. Plus if you sign up for Heartsy, you can also be privy to the daily deals. Like Groupon but for handmade goods!
