Choosing The Right Cleanse – Consciously

1.) When you choose a cleanse, look through the foods that they focus on. If you’re a vegetarian like I am, a Paleo-oriented cleanse isn’t going to feel or work very well. But if you’re uncertain as to whether certain foods are trigger foods for you, choosing a cleansing diet that eliminates them is probably a good idea.

2.) Next, you’ll want to consider how long you’re willing to invest. Dr. Oz has a 48 hour cleanse available on his website that focuses on foods that nourish and detoxify the liver, kidneys, and colon. Alternatively, you could cleanse for a longer period of time, giving your body the opportunity to transition from its current mode into a more clean way of eating. (Plus, the longer you keep out trigger foods the more likely you’ll find out if they truly are trigger foods.)The Raj Ayurvedic Health Spa , Sanoviv Medical Institute, Hippocrates Health Institute.

3.) Choose a destination detox spa to get you started, a property that is popular for it’s detox process. We recommend no shorter than a 2-week program. Check out

4.) We are proponents of the Conscious Cleanse , a program that is focused on clean and unprocessed foods, as well as the elimination of a number of triggers from nightshades to gluten. It’s a ‘light-hearted journey based on nutrient-rich (no starving) robust whole foods.

When I did the Conscious Cleanse this past January, not only did I get a glimpse into how much sugar I eat “unconsciously”, I also noticed that I can tolerate a certain amount of dairy and feel fine, but beyond that threshold and my tummy is an unhappy mess.

The Conscious Cleanse can be done at your own time via their new book, or through an online forum (which we recommend) in which you’ll be able to communicate directly with the founders as well as other cleansers to go over hurdles you may encounter as you work the diet and experience the effects. Plus, the recipes are a bit more ‘extensive’; meaning you won’t be consuming smoothies and broth for 14 days straight; lean protein is included, as well as soups, salads, and even a few “treats”.
