Spa goers have made pilgrimages to healing waters and sacred spaces for centuries to gain greater understanding of their dreams and to seek healing. According to Professor Jonathan Paul DeVierville, a “dream spa” expert, the rest and relaxation of the spa is important preparation for incubating healing dreams, “true rest will get out of the body/brain/and ego-centered mind and allow time and space for the soul/psyche to do the “rest.”

Want to access your dreams for guidance and healing? Try creating a welcoming environment for dreaming and you may be surprised at the amount of wisdom that shows up spontaneously in your dreams.

Dream Helpers:

1. Have a notebook, pen and small flashlight handy to record your inner dream wisdom as it arises when you wake. What you write down may not make all that much sense in the moment, but you may reap some important knowledge about yourself when you read these dreams and reflect on their significance in your life.

2. Make a dream sachet to place under your pillow with Mugwort (to enhance dreams) and lavender (encourages sleep and relaxation).

3. Write down a question or problem you are having in waking life before you go to sleep and place it under your pillow, setting the intention to dream your solution or answer. Write down whatever dreams you have in response to this, even if they don’t seem to make any sense. Read back the dreams after a week of dreaming and see if any of the symbols or stories that showed up in your dreams hold answers for you.

4. Can’t remember your dreams? Try taking the vitamin B-6 (or eat lots of bananas) which is known to enhance dream recall.

5. Before going to bed, keep a clear mind. Having too many thoughts on your mind can distract you from remembering your dream in the morning. Tell yourself that “I will remember my dream when I wake up”. This is a proven and effective technique to help dream recall. Simply by suggesting to yourself or motivating yourself to remember your dreams will actually help you to better remember your dreams.
