Devotees of Deepak Chopra are clamoring to be among the first to experience the Chopra Center New York, the Indian-born spiritualist’s first foray in the Big Apple. The center will be located in the new Dream Hotel set to open this fall in midtown and will specialize in the healing arts of Ayurveda. The 230-room minimalist hotel is the brainchild of entrepreneur Vikram Chatwal who has hired avant-garde photographer David LaChapelle to design the lobby, cocktail lounges, and the Chopra Center itself (LaChapelle is a longtime Chopra pupil). The oval-shaped space will offer spa treatments, yoga, and meditation and will be available to both guests and non-guests. Treatments include signature Ayurvedic massages and Shiro-Abhyanga-Nasya (a head, neck, face, and shoulder massage followed by an herbal steam bath).
