After hosting health retreats all over the globe, founders Deborah and Edmond Szekely chose Tecate for its ideal year-round warm, dry climate and scenery. Today “the Ranch” is a lush nature and garden preserve.

The location and elevation (1700′) are ideal for outdoor activity. The Ranch’s fitness program offers hiking and nature walks in mountains and meadows, yoga, Pilates, aquatic exercise, and much more. A mind/body/spirit emphasis runs through all activities, which include arts and crafts and evening learning and entertainment programs. Meals are highly creative and vegetarian, with daily fresh seafood options.

The big news at Rancho La Puerta is the opening of La Cocina Que Canta (“The Kitchen That Sings”), a romantic, hacienda-style cooking school set in the midst of the resort’s huge organic garden. Top guest chefs from around the world, along with the Ranch’s own creative teaching chefs, make this an unforgettable hands-on culinary experience.
