According to an interview published on NPR, participants in a study utilizing the 2-Day a Week diet, showed significant weight loss. In the study, 100 overweight women followed the principles of a 2-Day Diet combined with a Mediterranean diet. Essentially, for five days a week they ate following a Mediterranean way of eating. The other two days of the week they stuck to proteins, cutting out nearly all carbohydrates.
The Two-Days is quite limiting only 500-1,000 calories each day, but participants found that by fasting intermittently during the week they had more energy, more willpower to keep with their diet the rest of the week, and managed to lose and keep off their excess weight.
Its hard not to be skeptical of something that promises weight loss without a lot of effort. But the key concept here is that by limiting calories two days a week, an individual will also be re-training themselves to recognize fullness, and eat less throughout the week. If it comes down to calories in = calories out, consuming fewer calories will lead to weight loss.
What do you think? Is the Two-Day Diet for you?
