We at Healing Lifestyles & Spas believe, as part of our philosophy to follow our bliss while traveling consciously, that travel is essential piece of living mindfully. But sometimes travel is stressful, particularly when it comes to packing light and being comfortable! And we don’t want that. That’s why we hunt down items that can minimize travel stress on both our feet and the planet.
We discovered this pair of L31 riding boots from Arcopedico that fit the bill. These handmade, vegan boots are made of Lytech, which is a fabric-y type of material that is nontoxic and biodegradable (a big plus in HL&S’ book!). That also means they fold and pack easily into a suitcase with minimal room without wrinkling (unlike leather and some other manmade boots). They’re also super lightweight – about a pound per pair.
We wore them around for a few days and noticed that because the boots are a cushy material, they are comfy and unrestrictive. Unlike some other flat boots we’ve tried, they also have good arch support for long days of touring around or shlepping bags through the airport. They are also versatile, which minimizes how many pairs of shoes to bring along for a trip (they are thin enough to wear under jeans for a casual day or to dress up with tights or leggings). The boots lace up in the back, but it is simply for decor – a zipper on the side makes them easy to slip on and off.
We like that these shoes can be found at independent shoe shops around the U.S. (why can’t every day be Small Business Saturday)?
Check them out and let us know what you think too!
