If you’ve tried yoga, deep breathing and a caffeine-free diet, you are probably ready to take a more extreme approach to combating stress and anxiety.
Here are a few supplements that might help with your seemingly unrelenting anxiety, as well as some lifestyle tricks. As always, and we have to say this, consult your physician before starting a new supplement regimen.
B-Complex. B vitamins are known to help with stress relief. If your diet is lacking in the B-vitamins, you’ll want to take a post with a B-complex containing all eight B vitamins.
Magnesium + Zinc. Stress and anxiety can make sleep a day dream. A good magnesium and calcium blend, taken before bed could help you sleep. In addition research shows that magnesium helps treat mild to moderate anxiety. One of the highest natural sources of tryptophan, a couple of handfuls of cashews a day can keep the blues at bay. And let’s not forget the king of nuts – almonds, which contain zinc (a major nutrient in maintaining a balanced mood), iron (which curtails brain fatigue) and healthy fats (which reduce anxiety).
Rescue Remedy. A standby favorite at HL&S. Bach Flower Remedies Rescue Remedy features a blend of five flower essences designed to help you through a variety of causes of emotional stress, and the symptoms they create, including Bethlehem (for shock), Clematis (for inattentiveness), Impatiens (for irritation and impatience), Cherry Plum (for irrational thoughts), and Rock Rose (for panic).
Lifestyle Tricks:
Sleep tight. Try making a fresh almond milk to help sleep at night. Soak 10 raw almonds overnight, allowing them to soften. Peel off the skin. Blend almonds with a cup of warm milk and enjoy.
Try a sesame oil massage. A massage before bed will help you sleep and will also help you focus on yourself versus the concerns of the day.
