It’s springtime which means many people are cleansing not only their home but also their bodies. Spring is an excellent season to cleanse your colon, liver and internal organs.
There are a lot of cleanses and detox programs out there, it is tough t know where to start. From the master cleanse that includes just lemon, cayenne pepper and maple syrup, to the more hearty cleanse that include fruits and vegetables with whole grains, the food you eat is important. Look at your diet and what will work best for you before starting any new program.
Here are tips to help you make the most out of your spring detox plan
Prepare your kitchen
Look over all of the foods that you have including in the pantry. Eliminate and remove the foods that will be a trigger for you. For example if you’re doing a no sugar diet, you want to look at foods that have sugar in the ingredients and remove them from your cupboards.
It’s important to keep the foods away because cleanses will sometimes require an intense amount of effort. If you have any distractions or “cheat food” nearby, it could be harder to follow through with the plan.
Look at your habits with honesty
Some people start cleanses and detox programs only to fail after a couple hours. Look at your own routine and establish a plan that will be healthy for you. If you love coffee but you hear a lot of people say you should not drink coffee maybe you should ask yourself if you want to quit coffee. If he the answer is no, then there’s no reason you should cut it out of your diet. Instead practice mindful, baby steps to wean yourself off of the things that hurt your health
Wing yourself off of the unhealthy habits
If you love coffee but you know you want to start drinking more tea, simply replace one cup a day with tea, or if you eat a lot of sugar replace the sugar from processed foods with healthy fruit and the sugar found in honey or agave syrup. By looking for alternatives to your diet you feel more connected and healthy.
Add more greens
Green vegetables are a wonderful alternative to fatty foods. The more vegetables you eat the healthier you will feel in fact adding greens to your diet starting in the morning with a fresh juice smoothie will help you feel more grounded and clear throughout the day.
Greens are wonderful way to help you feel more connected to your center. They’re good for your teeth and your internal organs as well.
