According to recent research, tea has even more health benefits than previously thought. For years, health professionals have recommended tea (especially green) due to its anti-inflammatory and anti-carcinogenic properties. But now they are also advising a cup of tea for everything from blood pressure to canker sores. Read on for 4 reasons you should find a new love for tea.
- Diarrhea. You may not have realized this, but tea can actually help calm your stomach and prevent the spasms and cramps that can cause loose stools. Try an herbal tea, however, if you’re feeling sick as black teas can stimulate the stomach. Good choices include chamomile and red rooibos.
- Canker Sores. Tea, rich in tannins can act as an astringent in the mouth helping alleviate pain from canker sores.
- Blood pressure. As I mentioned, after switching to tea I felt my anxiety dissipate. But research shows that a cup of tea a day can help lower your blood pressure, which also lessons your likelihood of stroke and heart disease.
- Arthritis. Green tea contains an antioxidant that has been shown to help reduce inflammation in the body. Inflammation will stimulate arthritic symptoms, so by drinking green tea, you can help ward off arthritis as well as other joint/inflammatory pain.
