Does the holiday stress have you a mess?
If you feel stressed out and overwhelmed, chances are it’s not just because the holiday season. Perhaps you’re carrying around emotional weight or extra stress.
You can eliminate some of your emotional pain and anxiety by getting rid of things that are no longer serving you. Here are things to chuck to the curb now.
Your need to be in control
If you are control freak then perhaps everything has to be your way or it is the highway. Whether it is situations, people, events or coworkers, whatever the event is, your need to be in control could hinder it. Relaxing into the rhythm of life and allowing everything to just be as it is, will help you feel more calm.
Give up blame
Stop blaming others for what you have or don’t have. The way you feel is not anybody’s responsibility accept for yourself. You choose to give your power away when you blame others for the way you are in life. Take responsibility and be accountable for your choices and decisions.
Give up complaining
Stop complaining and using your friend’s to blame everything in your life on others. Not everything that is going wrong in your life has to do with other people, the waiter, your ex-boyfriend or ex-girlfriend, depression, everything is something to complain about but nobody can get to happy if they’re stuck in a place of complaining. You don’t have to be so miserable, instead look at the positive in each situation. Learn to appreciate the moment and the lessons you learned along the way.
Stop criticizing
If you pick on other people and criticize often, and always think that they’re worse or different, you will be lonely. The more we criticize and pick on others the less we focus on ourselves. Usually when we pick on people it’s because there’s something inside of us that we are uncomfortable with. Instead of looking outside of yourself look inward and ask yourself what you need and what will make you happy.
Give up lack of self-care
The holiday season is a perfect time to put yourself in the driver seat of your own life. Many people gain weight this time of year and they eat extra sugar and many people get more cavities. Dr. Andrew Thompson, a dentist in Northwest Portland says that he sees more patients with cavities at the beginning of the New Year. Avoid overeating and consuming sugar. You don’t have to fall into this trap. Instead practice taking care of yourself. Exercise more, eat less, brush your teeth and floss daily and enjoy the benefits of feeling good in your body.
