There’s a plethora of new Ayurvedic skincare lines climbing the charts in popularity and are sold everywhere from Sephora to Whole Foods.
Here are our latest favorites in Ayurvedic skincare products and why we fancy them so:
Favorite Body Oil: Rasasara Skin Food Body Nourishing Oil
Oleation is the essence of Ayurvedic self-massage or abhyanga. By massaging oil into damp skin, and focusing on the joints and limbs, one is able to help boost the lymph system and remove toxins. With a vata constitution, I loved the Vata Body Nourishing Oil made with Black Sesame. Cardamom and Vanilla. It smells wonderfully, and the black sesame oil is extremely nourishing for the skin. I found that applying it after my shower alleviated the need for any other lotion—all day long. And that’s a big claim coming from dry Colorado.
Favorite Oil for Achy Joints: Jiva Apoha Parutka (Joints) Body
This oil made with sweet almond oil, turmeric, lemongrass, eucalyptus and marjoram oils is extremely nourishing. Plus the generous use of turmeric helps alleviate inflammation. We felt the difference in stiff knees after applying it after a hard workout.
Favorite Face Cream: Sahajan Nourish Face Cream
I’m in love with this face cream. Made with gotu kula, coconut oil, and triphala, this blend is hydrating without being overly oily, allowing for quick absorption yet glowing skin. Definitely a new favorite.
Favorite Eye Cream: Sahajan Restorative Eye Cream
Made with honey, coconut oil, mango seed butter, and triphala this blend is soothing and helps brighten the area around the skin.
Favorite Face Oil: Pratima Vata Essential Oil
I love how simple this oil blend is, made with sweet almond oil, sesame oil and the essential oils of sweet orange, rose, cardamom and geranium. It doesn’t feel overly greasy, yet is extremely nourishing. A little goes a long way- you only need 2-3 drops to help smooth and soften your skin.
