This time of year can be stressful. The holidays are a time for catching up with family and friends, but sometimes when we are with them it brings up old insecurities and unhealed wounds. If too much family time leaves you feeling not so good, these tips can help.
Listen to Your Inner Voice
It’s important this time of year to not overwhelm yourself with too many commitments. By saying yes to everything, could actually hinder your own ability to listen to your inner voice. When you listen to gut, it will tell you if the opportunity is a good one or not in alignment with your true self.
For example maybe there is a holiday party and you don’t feel like going so you stay home, later you find out that your ex was there, you knew that it wasn’t a good idea and your gut told you so. It’s important to honor your own self this holiday season.
Eliminate Guilt
Perhaps you feel guilty this time of year. People often overeat or say things they don’t really mean. Instead, forgive yourself and be okay with what you eat. If you expect to overindulge and overeat this time a year especially when it comes to sweet foods, then skip them. Eating too much candy and cake can cause health problems ranging from obesity, to diabetes, to chronic headaches plaque buildup and cavities.
Pack Healthy Stocking Stuffers
Just because it’s the holiday time doesn’t mean you need to load up stockings with Candy and sweet treats. Instead choose natural and healthy items such a sugar-free gum and an electronic toothbrush or travel size toothpaste.
Dr. Benjamin Crusan, a Ridgefield WA dentist says these are the types of products that people don’t always buy for themselves, getting it from “Santa” would be a wonderful surprise.
